Curriculum Planning - Thread to Needle!
Develop and design a creative, skills based curriculum in an increasingly diverse society
For the attention of:
Primary, Infant, Middle and Junior Schools:
Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers and Curriculum Leaders
This course is suitable for all primary leaders wishing to develop a cutting edge curriculum which meets the needs of all children and all groups of children in an increasingly diverse society.
Course overview
The recent Rose report into the Primary Curriculum challenges schools to design a curriculum which is creative, which focuses on the key skills, and which raises standards throughout school. Ofsted seek evidence of a curriculum which is innovative, designed for personalised learning, and which raises standards. Most importantly, our children need to be taught to be independent learners, and to be excited and enthused about learning.
No small task!
This course leaves the theory behind for a day, and concentrates on practical tasks and strategies which would be effective in leading to outcomes such as those above. School leaders will have the opportunity to spend time in:
- Planning for coverage
- Developing simple but effective planning sequences at the long, medium and short term
- Identifying how the key, core, life skills fit in to both teaching and learning
- Exploring ways in which to give children opportunities to be more creative
- Developing recording of assessment and progression in subject specific skills
By the end of the day, participants will have spent time exploring, developing and designing a creative, skills based curriculum which is personalised to your school, and which will not only raise standards in core subjects, but will develop children’s attitudes to learning across the curriculum. NB: It is essential that participants bring a copy of the National Curriculum. Other materials will be provided.
