Winning the H Factor
The Secrets of Happy Schools
Why Happiness?
Happiness is the very stuff of life. It’s one of the things that some humans do really, really well - whilst others miss it completely. Children who exhibit emotional difficulties at a very early age are often beset by behavioural and relationship problems in their adult lives. Recent research shows that children in the UK are the least happy of the 21 nations in the 'developed' world (Unicef). Why should this be? What can we do about it? Is there a part for schools and educators to play?
For the first time a science of happiness – what it is and how to get it - is emerging. Aristotle pointed out that, unlike many other human aspirations, no-one pursues happiness in order to get something else! Maybe schools should be encouraged to do more to foster happiness in their students, their staff and their organisation? Finding out how is what this conference is all about!
