Basic principles and day-to-day financial management
This course has been designed to provide basic principles and day-to-day financial management rules and requirements under the FMSiS.
The following topics will be covered:
Roles and responibilities of everyone connected with the school's finances from budget holders to the local authority
The Consistent Financial Reporting Framework in Schools
Internal financial controls
Budget monitoring basics
Procurement and tendering
Outcomes and Benefits:
- understanding the roles and responsibilities of key financial personnel and processes
- being able to use the Consistent Financial Reporting Framework for the purpose of coding and financial transactions
- being aware of key financial rules and regulations and important basic checks and balances that are required to be built into school procedures
- understanding the Budget Management Reporting Requirements detailed within FMSiS and the purpose of this
- understanding the phases involved in awarding contracts on how those will vary for contracts awarded through tendering processes
